Good MORNING!
Remember we promised to serve you a quick hit of culture: viral trends and movements in the shape of a MORNING Rush newsletter?
Well it’s time to grab yourself a cup and take a hit of your cultural coffee…
This week we’re exploring Floppification, turning everything into AI melting art and, wondering why all social platforms are starting to look the same 👀.
🩴 FLOPPIFICATION
New GenZ lexicon for you Millenials out there - floppification.
Oh, nevermind it’s already passé … or, wait - is it?
GenZ hate mainstreaming so much some are already trying to kill the popular floppification, despite it just being invented - #cancelled.
Will the phrase survive? Only time will tell but the #FlopTok community might be the ones to save flop from being one.
👁️🗨️ EH, EYE? (Ai)
All the way back in 2017, Ai tech was getting so savvy that it could start to identify objects in images and “tag” them. Allowing the likes of you and me to search and retrieve images using words (ever searched an object, item or colour on your Camera Roll? That’s the Ai!).
Well, well, well some smart artists and companies have done a Missy Elliot on us by flipping and reversing this Ai so that we create images completely novel and even nonsensical images using “tag” words - i.e. you type blue banana, you’ll get an image of a blue banana.
DALL·E mini is a beta version of this Ai-backed image text and been it’s been ALL THE RAGE this week on social, as people flock to share what image they asked DALL·E to make.
Our fave? Has to go to @DankArtDirectorMemes who requested an never before see image - an “Invoice being paid promptly by client” lolz.
🥱 BORED APE GATE
“Over the past week I have reminted the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, and won a DMCA takedown request against $10b Yuga Labs.”
Creative RYDER RIPP has been investigating the Bored Ape NDT founders and exposing their true colours - it’s not pretty.
NFTs are still a bit of a wild west, so we always best to do your research, buy responsibly, and make sure your coins are going to the right creators.
👯 STICKING TOGETHER
TikTok, Reels and now Twitter too?!?
As platforms gun for stickiness and long scroll times (#AdMoneyHoney), they all are adopting the same “full-bleed video scroll” interface. Fine for profitability and all, but could this mean all feeds start to have the same interaction? A great homogenization of social media UI?
Until next time MORNING people ✌️
